A simple celebration… August 31, 2008

Hubby celebrated his 30th birthday last Friday, Aug.29, 2008. It was just a simple celebration due to budget constraints. Low budget? Yes. Coz we’re saving up for our “shopping galore” in Hong Kong come November. His day started by having breakfast in bed, especially made by MOI, who else! Made him his all-time fave pancake. A good cup of coffee and pancakes will really make his day. Right after breakfast, he went on to open his gifts. He got a Microsoft Wireless Keyboard from me. Went to Baclaran after lunch to give thanks and headed to Mall of Asia. We are to meet his sister who granted Hubby’s request for a pair of Dopie Sandals While waiting, we decided to stay at the San Miguel by the Bay (is that what you call it?) to enjoy the sunset.

The End…

Don’t you just hate it when… August 27, 2008

… you are all dolled up for an interview when suddenly your tummy aches and you have to rush to the nearest toilet to relieve yourself?

… you have been relieved from that uneasy feeling, ready to face the interviewer again and your tummy starts to ache (for the nth time) and you have to rush again to the toilet?

… you have to inform the interviewer that you are indisposed at the moment and you request to be rescheduled for another day? (All these happened to me this afternoon)

… your neighbors dog barks at anything and everything he sees? (Wish our neighbor could read this)

… the person behind you in the supermarket runs his cart into the back of your ankle? (ouch, the kid was playing with the mini SM pushcart and hit me)

… when people talk loudly on their mobile phones while riding an elevator? (hello, lakas naman ng signal mo)

… when someone next to you starts sniffing non-stop, over and over, and starts to pick his nose? (where are your manners, dude?)

This all happened to me within this day. I’ve got nothing else to say. I guess it’s just not my day…

Of drinks and pulutan August 27, 2008

In my previous post, I have mentioned that I was very, very sleepy. And it’s all because of this…

Hubby and I wanted to have a couple of drinks and was craving for tokwa’t baboy Sunday night. We decided to drop by CENTRAL BBQ Grill coz we love their BADTRIP drink (Yes,that’s what they call the drink seen here) and all the pulutan they serve. What we love most is their Tuna Belly. Too bad, they didn’t have it at the time we were there. We had our date there. The place was packed coz of the long weekend. Seen familiar faces, mostly from the village. What a fun way to end our Sunday night. Booze (2 pitchers) + pulutan = A very good night’s sleep!

Just got home. I’ve got quite a few stories to tell and pics to show. Haven’t uploaded the pics. Have not even organized my thoughts to write as well. All I know now is that I am tired and very sleepy. I usually fall asleep at around 2AM. That, is normal for me *Yawn* Geez, it’s just a couple of minutes past midnight!!! Good night! My eyes are now half-closed… Off to dreamland I go…

The 3K budget August 23, 2008

Filed under: be happy in love and with life, food, lucky me — jannesse @ 9:26 am

It’s SATURDAY! Weee! No work, all play day today. Woke up at 5:30am to prepare a list of items to buy at the wet market. I was too lazy to get up from bed and just instructed Manang to go by her lonesome self. Awww. As I gave her the list and the money, she blurted “Naku, nag-roll back na. Mura na ulit ang bilihin!” Haha. Si Manang talaga, hopeful that in a snap, everything would become normal again.

A 3K weekly wet market budget doesn’t really last for a week. For a household of 5, it lasts for a week and a few more days. The list includes: pork, beef, chicken, fish (tilapia, bangus, gg), and lots of vegetables. The list also includes the usual garlic, onions, ginger, kinchay, black pepper and rock salt. We also make sure to include fruits (banana, pineapple, mangoes)on our list. Tuyo and tinapa, also included. Yummy!

Lunch for today is Chopsuey and fried tilapia as requested by Hubby. Off to the kitchen I go to prepare for today’s meal.

Have you tried Lucky Me’s Instant Sopas? It’s our latest discovery from the grocery and we LOVE it. We had it for a snack on a rainy afternoon. Easy to cook, can be eaten as plain as an instant sopas can be. Tweaked a little here and added milk, carrots, cabbage, ground black pepper, and VOILA! Sarap!

What should I give? August 21, 2008

Filed under: be happy in love and with life, birthday, hubby — jannesse @ 5:49 am

It’s hubby’s birthday next Friday and I don’t know what to give him. How pathetic. Haha. You see, hubby is just a simple person. He’d appreciate everything and anything given to him. It’s just that I want to give him something special since we celebrate birthdays only once a year. I’d like to surprise him with a pregnancy kit that shows 2 lines. But I couldn’t. Tested this morning and it didn’t show any signs of him or even me being happy about it. I asked him what he wants, he said nothing. What!?!??! He said “Save it for our Hong Kong trip.” Naku, dun pa yata nya ipapabili ang gift na gusto nya.

I asked myself what his passion is/are, hobbies, etc. He’s into computers, web design, online games, collectible figures, books, and gadgets. Hmmm…. Isip… Isip… Suggestions, anyone?

A good bath and a bathroom August 19, 2008

Filed under: be happy in love and with life — jannesse @ 5:54 pm

Everybody loves a good bath. More than that, everybody loves a clean and gleaming bathroom. In taking the best baths, here are some of the products that should be in your bathroom.

Moisturizing soap/body wash

A good soap or cream applied to the skin can counter dryness. Exposure to everyday weather can strip off your skin of its natural oils so it is essential that you have a good moisturizing soap or body wash when you take a bath.

Aromatherapy oils

Lavender is one of the best aromatherapy oils to include in your bath. It is used for treating wounds, enhancing memory and aiding sleep by combating anxiety and insomnia. Other popular scents include eucalyptus, rose, jasmine and bergamot.Aromatherapy oils are relaxing. They lower stress.

Body buff

This is used to slough off dead skin cells. This will in part reveal, new, clean and smooth skin. When taking baths, our bodies are soaked in water, which makes the exfoliating process so much more easier.

Candles

Whether you take your bath at the start of your day or when you end it, it is absolutely refreshing to light a few candles when you soak up. The soft illumination and fresh scent of your candle will give you good vibes all day or all night.

Now that you know how to take a really good bath, here are tips on keeping your bathroom in tip-top shape.

1. You’ll be needing the following bathroom-cleansers. Strong, liquid cleanser that’s bacteria fighting as well. Spray cleansers that’s antiseptic. Glass cleaners and tile cleaners, too. Plus some mops, sponges and an old toothbrush if you must. Whoever said that cleaning your bathroom is a piece of cake.

2. Spray shower and tub with strong cleanser. The labels on your bath cleaning products will say what kind of stuff is in it- so make sure you get the ones with really strong bacteria-fighting stuff.

3. Pour cleaner into the toilet bowl, and spray the outside with the same cleaner. Let the chemicals do the cleaning for a while and return to scrubbing it after you do the other stuff.

4. Clean mirrors, chrome, bathroom scale, and light fixtures with glass cleaner. Never interchange cleaners. There’s a big difference with cleansers and mirror cleaners. So take note!

5. Vacuum everything! This will remove dust and hair that is so hard to get up when surfaces are wet.

6. Empty and clean the wastepaper basket. Dispose of all the filth and make sure you have a fresh new plastic to replace it with. Remember to spray your wastepaper basket with a good old cleanser.

7. Clean the sink. Working from the top of the toilet down, clean the outside, and brush and flush the inside.

8. Scrub the floor with a strong cleanser. Tough tile floors can be most easily cleaned by hand with the scrub-brush side of a bathroom-only sponge. One more tip: spaghetti mops are more efficient at getting into tough corners than sponge mops. Many types can even be thrown in the washing machine between cleanings.

Kikay Shopping! August 18, 2008

Filed under: be happy in love and with life, kikay — jannesse @ 6:28 am

After grocery shopping yesterday, I decided to go to the kikay section of the mall for my kikay stuff. I’m not much of a make-up person. I just put on the basics – pressed powder, gloss, blush, and mascara. Voila! Funny thing is that I told Hubby that he could walk around while I look for a new shade of lipstick. As I mentioned that, he just gave me a cute smile and said, “Wag mo bilin lahat ha?” Haha. I knew what he meant. It just means that I wouldn’t be buying just lipstick but other kikay stuff pa. And he’s right. This is what I bought.

Sorry, I just can’t help it was all I could say. Haha… He understands naman daw that a lady needs all these. Actually, kulang pa nga. Next time na lang ulit. Haaaayy!
