God is good! September 10, 2008

Filed under: be happy in love and with life, dad,Prayer — jannesse @ 1:42 pm

I got a call from my momma at 7:00, Sept. 8. 2008. She said that poppa felt dizzy and nauseous and she wanted me to accompany her to the hospital. Without taking a bath, I rushed home to bring poppa to the hospital. He was okay when I arrived. It’s just that he felt so dizzy that he just had to close his eyes. I was scared. We were scared. Dad, no. He was relaxed. Haha. Poppa is hypertensive and has suffered a mild stroke 2 years ago. Actually, the first one happened 10 years ago. That was when his speech became slurred. He has been A-okay since then. In 2006, it happened again. Thank God, it wasn’t as bad as what had happened the first time.

When we rushed to the ER last Monday, all lab tests and exams were normal. Thank God. His blood pressure was very normal, ecg is okay, etc. He was ordered to just rest at home and take the medication prescribed. But no! We wanted to be sure. We wanted him to stay in the hospital just to be on the safe side. It is better that he be admitted, at least there are doctors and nurses on call 24/7 to look after him. He was discharged just before lunch today. Thank you, Lord. Everything is okay. His doctor referred him to a an eye specialist to have his right eye checked. Poppa has been complaining about it for some months now. Now he thinks the left eye is starting to get affected too. That could be one reason why he was dizzy and nauseous.

Just as I was doing my blog-hop today, I learned that Jan’s dad has been confined due to a mild stroke. All is well now. He is now out of the ICU and is showing signs of improvement. He is on his way to recovery. Miracles do happen, really.

Because of what has happened, Jan’s Coffee Break theme today is :

It has touched me in so many ways. The power of prayer should not be underestimated. The story I mentioned above is just one of the many instances where the power of prayer has been very effective to me. The power of prayer has overcome enemies, conquered death, and brought healing to those who needed it.

Pupung and Friends September 6, 2008

Filed under: be happy in love and with life, food, pupung — jannesse @ 11:32 am

Seeing the place brought back childhood memories when I used to read the comic strip. In this place you get a good laugh plus good food. Pupung and Friends, is a Pinoy fast food named after Tonton Young’s beloved comic characters. Hubby and I sat in front of their comic strip on the wall. I wanted to walk around to check on the other framed strips but the place was crowded last night. Next time, though. It’s safe to say that they serve good old Pinoy comfort food for reasonable prices.

Oh, and here is the cute mug Hubby bought for me days ago. I love it. He loves it too. As he said ” Ikaw na ikaw ito!” And the price! For Php46.95 , very much affordable! Am now thinking of buying the limited stocks they have for my friends this Christmas! So cute it comes with a mug cover that serves as a mug coaster too.

Books and Magazines September 4, 2008

Filed under: be happy in love and with life, collection, magazines — jannesse @ 10:41 am

As I was bloghopping earlier, I got the chance to read Farah’s Wordless Wednesday post. The topic was Cheap Thrills. Her post mentioned that she is a certified magazine collector. Whoah! Same here. I just can’t explain it. There is just something about magazines that keeps me attracted to them. Could it be the glossy pages? Maybe.

I have been a magazine collector since I started working in 2002. Got this thing from my mom, maybe. Only difference is that she used to collect Good Housekeeping US. I remember how she would neatly cover those mags when I was still a kid. If my brother and I had some art projects to do, all we have to do is ask her. She’ll look for an issue that she has read over and over again. Some even already had cut-outs coz we have used them before. This reminds me to check her collection over the weekend.

Here’s a picture of my magazine shelf. Actually I have 2 shelves but the other one’s messed up pa. Hehe…

I want to learn : Scrapbooking September 2, 2008

Filed under: be happy in love and with life, hobby, life, scrapbook, scrapbooking — jannesse @ 8:58 pm

I’ve seen eye-catching and heartwarming creations my online buddies have made by scrapbooking and told myself, “I can do that!” But, no. I’ve given it a try and I must say that I can’t upload it for everyone to see. Truly, you need inspiration and motivation to do this.

For a beginning scrapbooker, the choices can be overwhelming. I was at the bookstore over the weekend and saw a young lady with a basketful of materials. She spent almost a thousand pesos for this hobby. I spent half a day trying and voila, I didn’t get a single page completed. A close friend of mine shared some tips on how I could get motivated in doing this.

Where to do I start?

Scrapbooking for beginners can be quite a task. I believe the key is to start where you are. My friend mentioned that I start with the most recent photos I have and start cropping regularly. If I start back in time, it will feel like I will be forever catching up. Eventually, I will find the time to update whatever photos I have back then and start to travel back in time.

A step at a time

She suggested that I use a scrapbook with removable pages. This will allow myself to decide on placement of the pages as I go along, and allow me to add pages at a later date.

Beg and Borrow

I am confident that the best sources for my inspiration will come from looking through other people’s work, and getting ideas from websites and catalogs. Don’t be afraid to “borrow” someone else’s idea. Just make sure you inform them about it. Eventually, I will be able to create something uniquely my own.

I am craving for a Double Cheeseburger with Large Fries and a regular coke as of present time. What do I get? Nothing!!! I have been dialing 8MCDO and the Automated Voice response just keeps on saying that they are upgrading their system. I’ve been on the line for 3 mins now and all I get are endless rings. Tried logging on to their website, 8MCDO.com and nothing appears on the page. Life! Boo…

Spread the Christmas Spirit ! September 1, 2008

Filed under: be happy in love and with life,Christmas, tags — jannesse @ 11:18 pm

Here’s something from Jan! She is into the Christmas mode now and I am getting hooked on it as well. I am now contemplating on changing the look of my blog for it to be in tune with the season. Teehee!

Here’s what you gotta do:

It’s so simple. Copy the photo below then write your blog and your wish this Christmas 2008. Your wish has to be something PRICELESS and SELF- LESS… something that money can’t buy… something that another person will treasure dearly.

1. Bits and Pieces by Jan :: I wish Gino and I will be able to convince friends to help us sponsor a simple Christmas party for the children of White Cross Children’s Home in San Juan.

2. The Wifey Diaries by Jannesse : My birthday falls on the 22nd of December. I have always wished to spend it with orphaned or abandoned kids. I’d be super happy to spend my birthday with them. That way, they get early Christmas presents from me. Oh, and can I wish for a baby, too? Please?

Who goes next? Pat, Mec, Concon, Mhay, Jeanny, and Jan

A simple celebration… August 31, 2008

Hubby celebrated his 30th birthday last Friday, Aug.29, 2008. It was just a simple celebration due to budget constraints. Low budget? Yes. Coz we’re saving up for our “shopping galore” in Hong Kong come November. His day started by having breakfast in bed, especially made by MOI, who else! Made him his all-time fave pancake. A good cup of coffee and pancakes will really make his day. Right after breakfast, he went on to open his gifts. He got a Microsoft Wireless Keyboard from me. Went to Baclaran after lunch to give thanks and headed to Mall of Asia. We are to meet his sister who granted Hubby’s request for a pair of Dopie Sandals While waiting, we decided to stay at the San Miguel by the Bay (is that what you call it?) to enjoy the sunset.

The End…
